Jason Weaver

Jason graduated from Benson High school in 1988. He was active in sports and received the American Legion Award in 8th grade.  Jason is married to Julia and they have one son who is now 11 yrs. old. Interviewing his mother, she said that Jason really enjoys the Classic Meets Pop concerts. The Germans/Europeans really like American Jazz and pops music. She also felt that he received a lot of encouragement in Benson to continue in his career.

Raised on a ranch in Arizona, Jason Weaver began learning piano at the age of six. He studied music at the University of Arizona in Tucson and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Piano Performance. Jason was awarded the AOG Outstanding Accompanist Award, won 1st Place in the Presidents Concerto Competition and won the Tucson Symphony Competition where he played Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Symphony. He then went on to study with Gregory Allen and David Garvey at the University of Texas in Austin and received his Masters Degree in Piano Performance and Accompanying.

Moving to Germany in 1995, he continued to accompany various singers for concerts in America, as well as on the European continent. He was a founder of the “Austrian American Mozart Academy”, a summer opera program in Salzburg, Austria where he conducted opera productions as well as coached the voice students. In addition, he has been a vocal coach at the University of Miami Summer Music Program in Salzburg and was also on the accompaniment staff at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. His first German theatrical engagement was as vocal coach and music director at the Landestheater Mecklenburg in Neustrelitz, Germany.

Jason Weaver holds the position of Kapellmeister (Conductor) at the State Theater Oldenburg in Oldenburg, Germany. During his tenure at the theater, he has directed a wide variety of pieces ranging from Turandot to My Fair Lady. He performs regularly at the theater as pianist for various chamber music concerts and song recitals as well. This season, Jason will be conducting The Magic Flute, La Boheme and Madame Butterfly and is the music director for the concert, “Classic Meets Pop” at the EWE Arena in Oldenburg.
