We’ve missed the actual ceremony but we can still celebrate.

Hello Benson Bobcat Alumni,

Please read the information below concerning a ceremony formally recognizing the contributions that Jerry P Lee made to Benson Schools. Your attendance will be greatly appreciated. I hope that you will be able to attend this very important celebration of Coach Jerry Lee.

Very sincerely, Lorene Corbett Whaley

From Micah Mortenson, The Benson School District Superintendent.

We are planning a celebration to honor Jerry P. Lee at our final home football game of the year. Can you please forward the information below to all members of the BUSD Alumni Association? And, please encourage everyone to attend the game and help spread the word!

We will formally recognizing the contributions that Jerry P. Lee made to Benson Schools throughout his 35 year teaching and coaching career. Specifically, on October 21, 2016 at our final home football game of the season we would like to honor Coach Lee by naming our facilities the “Jerry P. Lee Athletics Complex”. This would be designated in two locations. The first being a plaque near the entrance to the stadium and hopefully in the near future permanent lettering on the façade of the stadium itself.

Mrs. Michelle Saunders has been contacting the Lee family to arrange for as many people as possible to be part of the ceremony that will be at halftime of the 10/21/16 football game. Some of the accolades for Mr. Jerry P. Lee include a 4 year lettermen for the ASU track team, his service to our country in the Navy, 12 state championships, and induction into the Arizona Coaches Hall of Fame and the Arizona Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame. In honoring Jerry P. Lee we have enjoyed hearing the stories of the impact and impressions Jerry P. Lee made upon so many individuals.
